A PASSION FOR PERFORMANCE......
Vancouver, BC based violinist, composer/arranger and educator Serena Eades is currently the fiddle player for Indian/Irish/Electronic dance band Delhi 2 Dublin. With D2D she has toured throughout North America, South East Asia and India.
Her project Sostenuto with pianist/accordionist Anna Lumiere continues to perform their acoustic blend of Brazilian Choro, French Musette and contemporary Jazz.
She has played in a number of classical as well as non-classical ensembles including the Kamloops and Prince George Symphony Orchestras (BC), Berklee World Strings Orchestra (Boston, MA), Orquesta de Camara (Mexico) and various chamber ensembles.
Serena is co-founder and previous member of multi-award nominated acoustic ensemble The Rakish Angles.
She has worked with Hallmark TV and producer/composer Hamish Thomson on hit TV show Chesapeake Shores, and features Love Locks, While You Were Dating, Haley Dean Mystery; Murder with Love, and Looks Like Christmas. Serena has also worked with , Dream Theater, Alejandro Sanz, Boston's Beat Circus, Shyn Digg, CR Avery, Bloco Afrobrasil, The Gruff, Mark Berube, Giorgio Magnanensi, Shuyler Jensen, Christa Couture, Shelley O’Brien, Steve K, Joseph Blood and for Randall Okita's film "Machine and Wishbone." Serena currently freelances around the Vancouver as a studio and live musician.
A LIFETIME OF STUDY.......
Serena has a B. Mus. degree from Brandon University, Capilano College and the University of Colima, Mexico as well as a Bachelor of Music Diploma in Professional Music from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. She has been a student of Matt Glaser, Rob Thomas, Darol Anger, Bruce Molsky, Casey Driessen, Nancy DiNovo and others.
COMPOSITION / ARRANGING / TRANSCRIBING......
“A Shared Music,” Serena's first written publication, includes 17 tunes written and/or co-written by Serena and a play-along CD, can be purchased by contacting Serena directly.
Serena has also composed and recorded part of the score for independent film “Acescence" and does transcription and arranging work including projects for Matt Glaser, Darol Anger, Allison Brown and Eugene Friesen.
She teaches many enthusiastic young and young-at-heart violinists out of her home and online. Having taught at a number of institutions and non-institutions (El Sistema Somerville, Sunhaven Waldorf School, Edmonton Suzuki Institute and a host of fiddle camps) Serena has devised a unique method of teaching both classical music and folk music with the primary goal of imparting a love of music as the core principle.
